Pelikulambo at UPFI Film Center

The UPFI Film Center served as the ideal venue for Pelikulambo, aligning seamlessly with its overarching theme of cinema. I specifically chose the outdoor space behind the theater for its natural elements—nearby trees that allowed for the suspension of the kulambo (mosquito net) and the tiered steps that functioned as organic seating, reminiscent of an indoor film theater. This open-air setting created a breathable, immersive environment, enhancing the ephemeral nature of the installation.
A one-night MFA degree show, Pelikulambo ran for just three hours, beginning at 6 PM—timed intentionally as daylight fades into night, reinforcing themes of transience and impermanence.
